About The Metro Map

An interactive world map of metro systems. Pick a country, open a network and explore its lines and stations on a flat map.

What it is

The Metro Map is a free, independent project that puts the world's metro and subway networks on a single map. It follows the same idea as its sister project, Mapa Metrô SP, in a global version.

Where the data comes from

Network, line and station data comes from open sources: OpenStreetMap and Wikidata. Country shapes come from Natural Earth, which is in the public domain. See how we make the map for details and limits, and the sources policy for how we credit other people's work.

What to expect

Coverage grows over time and is not the same everywhere: some networks are more complete than others. The map is for exploring and learning, not for planning a trip. Always check the operator's official channels for schedules and service status.

This is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any transit operator.
