According to Il Mattino, the consumer association Aidacon Consumatori has filed a complaint (esposto) with the Procura della Repubblica over the suspension of train service at Cavalleggeri Aosta and Bagnoli stations on Line 2 of the Naples metro.

Service stops at Campi Flegrei

The report says Line 2 trains have stopped at Campi Flegrei for five months. As a result, Cavalleggeri Aosta and Bagnoli have no trains. The critical tunnel is between Bagnoli and Pozzuoli, and the association's president, Carlo Claps, said the Campi Flegrei–Bagnoli section does not pass through that tunnel.

Options for passengers

Residents of these neighbourhoods have two alternatives, according to the newspaper. One is replacement shuttle buses, which have no published timetables and no clear indication of stops. The other is a long walk to Campi Flegrei station.

Questions raised by the association

Claps said that Rfi and Trenitalia should explain why the Campi Flegrei–Bagnoli section remains closed. He also asked whether works for the new "Porta del Parco" stop, being carried out on the closed section, are linked to the suspension. He noted that those works were scheduled between December and April, and warned against using an emergency to bring a construction site forward and charge its cost to users.

Official explanations and open issues

At a technical meeting on Tuesday, Rfi did not give a date for reopening the line to Pozzuoli. According to the report, Rfi's explanations so far have been limited to a CO2 emergency in the Pozzuoli tunnel. The association said no authority has yet explained the closure of the Bagnoli section and asked for any technical reason to be documented or for that section to reopen without delay.
