According to Metrô SP, Edmonson magnetic tickets will no longer be accepted at the turnstiles of Lines 1-Azul, 2-Verde, 3-Vermelha and 15-Prata starting 1 November 2026. Passengers can still use these traditional tickets until 31 October.
To help riders who still hold unused tickets, the operator will exchange them for QR Codes from 1 November 2026 to 31 January 2027. The exchange is available at the Paraíso and Tatuapé stations.
How the exchange works
The service will be provided at the ticket offices that are operating at Paraíso (Lines 1-Azul and 2-Verde) and Tatuapé (Line 3-Vermelha), from 6h to 22h.
Only Edmonson tickets of the Metrô de São Paulo type G-01 Unitário qualify. According to Metrô SP, the tickets must be valid, in good condition, and free of signs of use or cancellation, such as punch marks, damaged bars, tears or other marks that affect their integrity.
- Up to 10 valid tickets can be exchanged at the time of the request.
- Above 10 tickets, the tickets must be left for analysis and validation. Passengers must present an official identification document and provide a phone number or email address. After the analysis, the passenger is informed of the date to collect the QR Codes.
Other ways to pay
With the end of magnetic tickets, Metrô SP says riders can use the Bilhete Único, the TOP card, and single-trip QR Code tickets, in printed or digital format.
QR Codes can be bought at ticket offices, at self-service machines in stations, through the TOP app, and via WhatsApp at (11) 3777-9456. According to the operator, the self-service machines now also accept Pix payments, in addition to debit cards.
Contactless payment at the turnstiles is another option, using physical or virtual credit and debit cards from Visa, Mastercard and Elo. It can also be used with mobile phones, smartwatches and other compatible digital wallet devices.
The operator presents the wider range of payment options as a way to make access to the system more practical and convenient.
