According to Diário do Transporte, the São Paulo Metrô has extended its contract with the Consórcio Expresso Monotrilho Leste, the consortium responsible for part of the construction of Line 15-Prata, until 2032. The change was published in the state official gazette on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, less than two months after an earlier extension reported by the same outlet in September.

The amendment sets the service execution deadline at 16 June 2032 and the contract validity at 16 October 2032. The September extension had set execution until December 2026 and validity until April 2027, so the new deadlines add more than five years. According to the report, the extension does not by itself mean that stations under construction have been postponed to 2032.

What the amendment changes

The document is the 20th amendment to the contract. Beyond the new deadlines, it adjusts the contracted scope, includes new services, changes contract items and modifies the events used to trigger payments. It also sets a new adjustment formula, replaces some indexes used to update values, and requires the consortium to submit a revised schedule and an endorsement of the performance guarantee.

The added amount is R$ 1,696,999.96, based on a reference date of 1 August 2010. According to the report, this is a historical contractual reference and not necessarily the updated amount that will actually be paid. The published extract does not show the updated total value of the contract, nor does it detail each new service.

Contractor claims preserved

The amendment states that signing it does not waive or settle any claims by the contractor. Among the situations mentioned are remobilisation costs, payment for expanded scope, expenses for maintaining structures and storing materials, and requests for economic-financial rebalancing. According to the report, these claims must still be analysed under the applicable administrative or legal procedures.

Background of the line

The original contract was signed on 27 September 2010 for a high-capacity link between Vila Prudente and Hospital Cidade Tiradentes, with an initial plan of about 24.5 kilometres and 17 stations. Later changes included an extension toward Ipiranga, bringing the planned total to about 26.6 kilometres and 18 stations. The consortium originally included Queiroz Galvão, OAS and Bombardier, and has since changed names and ownership.

Current service and planned works

Line 15-Prata currently runs between Vila Prudente and Jardim Colonial and offers an interchange with Line 2-Verde. Planned works include an extension westward to Ipiranga, interventions linked to the Boa Esperança and Jacu-Pêssego stations and the Ragueb Chohfi yard to the east, and a continuation to Hospital Cidade Tiradentes that still depends on further decisions. According to the report, the new 2032 deadline should be read as a contractual execution period, not as the confirmed opening date of every station.
