Line 1 of the Metro de Panamá started operating on Thursday under a special service scheme after an electrical incident affected track 2 between the San Isidro and Villa Zaita stations, according to TVN Noticias, which relayed information published by the Metro on its X account.

How the service works

According to the same information, a single train now covers the section between Los Andes and Villa Zaita. It travels from one station to the other and returns along the same route, serving both directions on the same track.

Service between Albrook and Los Andes is running normally in both directions, so passengers on that stretch do not need to change their plans.

Other stations

The Metro reported that the remaining stations on Line 1 are still open. Its staff is working to resolve the incident and restore regular service as soon as possible. No timeline for full restoration was given in the information released by the source.

What passengers should do

  • Allow extra time for trips between Los Andes and Villa Zaita, since one train is shuttling back and forth on the same track.
  • Plan journeys between Albrook and Los Andes as usual.
  • Check official Metro updates on Line 1 operations before travelling.

TVN Noticias reported that the Metro recommends that users take this special scheme into account when planning their trips and follow official announcements about Line 1 until regular service returns.
