The Sistema de Transporte Colectivo (STC) Metro will launch a free reading promotion program called Transbordo Literario on Thursday, November 5, according to El Universal – Metrópoli. The initiative aims to turn spaces within the transit network into places for meeting and social interaction.
Where and when
The first reading club will be based at the Museo del Metro, located in Mixcoac station on Line 12, in the passage that connects with Line 7. Sessions will be held every Thursday in two time slots: from 11:00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 18:00. Each meeting has a maximum capacity of 15 participants.
Who leads the program
The Fondo de Cultura Económica (FCE) will support and certify the program. The FCE will train and certify the person responsible for the club as a reading mediator, and it will also provide a physical and digital collection of works by different authors for the activities.
According to the source, the readings will be led by Margot Cortázar, a broadcaster and audiovisual director who is currently the institutional voice of the Metro.
What the activities include
- Weekly shared reading sessions
- Guided conversations about literary works
- Reading aloud and collective commentary exercises
- Visits from invited writers
- Book lending among participants
- Special sessions on national and international anniversaries
Next steps
The STC has said that, in the medium term, it intends to extend the initiative across the whole network by creating 12 reading clubs, one for each line. The source does not provide dates for this expansion.
Passengers who want to follow the program can check the Metro’s announcements for further details on registration, which the source article does not describe.
