The Sistema de Transporte Colectivo (STC) Metro de la Ciudad de México will start service earlier than usual on five lines this Sunday, November 1, to help fans travel to the 2026 Mexican Grand Prix at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. According to Infobae México, citing the Metro's official notice, Lines 1, 2, 3, 7 and 9 will open at 5:00 hours.

Early opening on five lines

The change is meant to widen travel options for people heading to the Formula 1 circuit and to reduce crowding during the day. Metro authorities describe it as part of the special measures the city government has put in place for the large number of visitors the race brings.

Security operation on Line 9

Line 9 connects with the stations closest to the circuit, so the Metro is running a special security operation there. According to the same notice, 510 personnel from the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana and 40 Metro guards are taking part. The operation began on Friday, October 30, and will remain in place until Sunday, November 1, covering the three days of Grand Prix activities.

Extra attention will be given to Velódromo, Ciudad Deportiva and Puebla stations, which are nearest to the racing venue. The strategy follows instructions from the head of government, Clara Brugada Molina. Metro director general Adrián Rubalcava Suárez will oversee service and the surveillance deployment over the weekend.

Race-themed display at Ciudad Deportiva

A single-seater exhibition car is on display at Ciudad Deportiva station on Line 9. The black vehicle has orange details and graphics referring to the 12 lines of the capital's Metro. Passengers can see it without entering the circuit and take photographs during the weekend.

Recommendations for passengers

Because passenger numbers are expected to rise, Metro authorities asked users to follow safety rules inside stations. The main advice is to avoid entering stations with alcoholic drinks, keep belongings secure, and stay well back from the platform edge. The Metro also warned that objects dropped onto the tracks can disrupt service, and asked riders to take care while travelling.
