According to g1 Minas Gerais, citing the Prefeitura de Belo Horizonte (PBH), the Nova Suíça and Amazonas stations on Line 2 of the Metrô BH start full operation on Sunday, November 1. The stations will run every day from 5:15 to 23:00, extending service that until now was offered only on weekdays, Monday to Friday.
Changes for passengers
The change is temporary and affects only Line 2. Line 1 keeps its current operating hours, with no changes reported by the PBH.
Line 2 is currently operated on a single track. According to the PBH, signaling tests will be carried out on both tracks of the section on November 3 to 6, 9 to 13, and 16 to 20. After the systems are validated, the expectation is that both tracks will be ready for operation.
After the tests
Once the testing period ends, the PBH says Line 2 will return to normal operation, running daily from 5:15 to 23:00.
Expansion of Line 2
Line 2 will have seven stations in total. Construction work on the Nova Gameleira, Nova Cintra, and Vista Alegre stations began in September, according to the information released by the PBH. The forecast for full operation of the line is March 2028, when the Ferrugem and Barreiro stations are also expected to be in service.
Passengers planning trips on Line 2 should check the new schedule once daily service begins. The information in this report comes from the PBH and reflects the dates and hours published at the time of the report.
