Namma Metro services on the Purple Line in Bengaluru were temporarily disrupted on the morning of October 30, after a passenger entered the tracks at Indiranagar station. According to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the incident happened at 9.22 a.m., and the passenger was safely rescued.
What happened
Following the incident, emergency safety systems were activated as a precautionary measure. These included the Emergency Trip System (ETS) and the Emergency Stop Plunger (ESP). As a result, train services on the Purple Line were delayed by approximately 10 minutes, according to the information released by BMRCL.
Impact on the Green Line
Some trains on the Green Line were also regulated to prevent overcrowding at Kempegowda Majestic interchange station, where passengers change between the two corridors. The disruption affected commuters travelling during the morning peak hours, particularly those using the Purple Line and those changing trains at Majestic.
Service restored
BMRCL said normal train operations on both the Purple and Green lines were restored at 9.40 a.m. The report was published by The Hindu, which cited BMRCL as the source of the timings and operational details.
For passengers
- Purple Line trains were delayed by about 10 minutes after the incident at Indiranagar.
- Green Line trains were temporarily regulated, which added crowding pressure at Majestic.
- Normal operations on both lines resumed at 9.40 a.m., according to BMRCL.
Commuters planning travel through Indiranagar or Majestic during peak hours may wish to allow extra time while services return to their usual pattern.
