According to IanVisits, Transport for London (TfL) has reached a milestone in its mobile coverage rollout on the London Underground: 70 per cent of Underground stations located below ground now have a mobile signal. The information comes from TfL's announcement as reported by IanVisits on 26 October 2026.
All four major mobile network operators are taking part in the rollout: Three UK, EE, Vodafone, and Virgin Media O2 (VMO2). The work is delivered to TfL by Boldyn Networks at no cost to TfL, under a concession agreement.
Recent additions
In recent weeks, TfL and Boldyn have added coverage in several areas, according to the report:
- Bakerloo and Northern area: stations and tunnels between Queen's Park and Baker Street now have mobile coverage.
- Piccadilly line: coverage is available between Piccadilly Circus and Lambeth North, except at Waterloo.
- Charing Cross branch: continuous coverage runs from East Finchley and Hampstead stations to Waterloo.
- Southern section: there is a continuous mobile signal between Borough and Morden, except at Elephant & Castle.
- Individual stations: Walthamstow Central, Blackhorse Road, Highbury & Islington, Sloane Square, Moorgate, Aldgate East and Fulham Broadway (on the District line branch to Wimbledon) now have a mobile signal.
- Sloane Square tunnel: mobile signal is also available in the connecting tunnel to Victoria.
Metropolitan and Hammersmith & City lines
Mobile signal is now also available between Moorgate and Liverpool Street, according to the source.
Next steps
TfL states that work is on track to bring coverage to the whole Underground network by the end of the year. TfL and Boldyn are also working to introduce coverage to underground sections of the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), as well as the Windrush line between Highbury & Islington and New Cross.
Passengers planning journeys on the Underground can check the coverage reported for specific stations, as gaps remain at some locations listed above, such as Waterloo and Elephant & Castle.
