Nanchang Metro has opened registration for a volunteer service creative project contest, according to a report from Hongguan News citing the Nanchang rail transit group. Registration is open from the current date until November 17. The contest is themed "Accompanied by Egrets, Beautiful Journeys" and invites volunteer service ideas from university students in Nanchang, social organisations, and metro staff.

The contest aims to deepen the "Little Fresh Egret" brand, strengthen cooperation between companies and universities, support grassroots urban governance, and spread the metro's concept of travelling together with good experiences.

Who can take part

Entries are submitted by teams. University clubs, social organisations and metro station teams are all eligible to join. Projects must match the theme of "one special feature per station, one highlight per university" and relate to the metro and its surrounding areas.

Six project categories

  • Red culture heritage: red lectures, science outreach and study tours linked to Nanchang's revolutionary history.
  • Culture and tourism services: guided tours, city promotion and sightseeing education along metro corridors, including scenic spots and commercial districts.
  • Transport hub support: helping manage passenger flows at busy hub stations and assisting special-needs passengers.
  • Better everyday services: practical help for residents, guidance for orderly travel and care for special-needs groups.
  • Grassroots governance support: linking stations with nearby communities and assistance villages, with university expertise.
  • Other: innovative public-benefit volunteer projects that fit the metro's public role and urban development.

Awards

Outstanding project awards include first, second and third prizes. According to the report, these carry cash prizes of 1,000, 800 and 500 yuan, along with certificates of honour. The prize money will be paid in stages during 2027, in line with project progress. The best projects will be selected for incubation and practical implementation. The contest also offers awards for outstanding individuals, outstanding instructors and outstanding organising units.
