According to Telangana Today, the Telangana government has cut the fares of its Metro-RTC combined travel passes, presenting the reduction as a Diwali gift to commuters. The new rates will take effect from November 8.

Daily combined pass

The daily combined pass now costs Rs 275, down from Rs 400. Of this amount, Rs 200 covers Hyderabad Metro travel and Rs 75 covers RTC services. The pass allows four single journeys a day.

Monthly combined pass

The monthly pass has been reduced from Rs 8,500 to Rs 4,000. Rs 3,000 is allocated to Metro travel and Rs 1,000 to RTC services. The pass allows up to 50 round trips a month.

Savings for passengers

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the revised fares would help commuters save Rs 125 on daily passes and Rs 4,500 on monthly passes, as reported by Telangana Today. He said the move aims to reduce the financial burden on commuters and make public transport more affordable.

What changes for riders

Passengers who buy these combined passes will pay the lower rates once the new fares start on November 8. The report does not give further details on where passes can be bought or who qualifies, so riders should check official Hyderabad Metro or RTC information for those specifics.
