According to tz München, citing the Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG), the bus replacement service for U-Bahn line U5 in Ramersdorf-Perlach ends on Sunday. From Monday, 9 November, U5 trains again run without interruption to Neuperlach Süd station.

The suspension was caused by extensive renovation work between Neuperlach Zentrum and Neuperlach Süd stations. According to the report, Stadtwerke München (SWM) carried out about 35 measures for renovation, modernisation and maintenance since 5 October.

What was renewed

  • A track connection north of Neuperlach Süd station, made up of four switches and one crossing, was completely replaced.
  • Sleepers and about 1,200 tonnes of track ballast were exchanged.
  • About 1,500 metres of conductor rail were renewed.
  • Between Therese-Giehse-Allee and Neuperlach Zentrum, about 2,900 metres of running rail were replaced.
  • At Therese-Giehse-Allee and Neuperlach Süd stations, tactile guidance was improved and a new electronic loudspeaker system was installed.

Remaining works at Max-Weber-Platz

One construction site remains at Max-Weber-Platz, where escalators are being renewed until 27 November. According to the same information, lines U4 and U5 can run their full routes without restrictions only from 28 November.

Passengers who use Max-Weber-Platz should expect the works to continue until then. The announcement does not mention other alternatives beyond the bus replacement service that ends this weekend.
