Students taking the Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio (Enem) will be able to use the metro in Salvador and Lauro de Freitas for free on the two Sundays of the exam, 8 and 15 November, according to g1 Bahia.
How the free ride works
To use the benefit, candidates must show their Enem registration confirmation and an official identity document with a photo at the turnstiles of the stations.
The metro system will run normally on both days, from 5 a.m. to midnight. To handle the expected increase in demand, the operator Metrô Bahia has prepared a special operation. It includes extra staff at the stations and spare trains that can be put into service depending on how many passengers are travelling.
Monitoring and security
According to g1 Bahia, passenger flow will be followed in real time by the Operations Control Center (CCO), which can adjust the service if needed. The metro's security system has more than 2,000 cameras spread across stations, trains, access footbridges and bus terminals.
Support for students
The state Secretariat of Education will also run a welcome action for candidates who use the metro on exam days. Kits with water, squeeze bottles, personalised paper fans and pens will be handed out at Tamburugy and Lapa stations. The aim, according to the report, is to offer support to students before the exam.
Safety recommendations
Metrô Bahia also reminds passengers of some safety guidelines when boarding and leaving trains:
- Wait for passengers to exit before getting on the train.
- Give priority in the elevators to people who need them.
- Hold the handrail when going down the stairs.
The information comes from g1 Bahia and reflects what the operator and the authorities released ahead of the exam dates.
