A new themed train called the "Far East Express" has started running on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line of the Moscow Metro, according to Вечерняя Москва. The train will serve the "blue" line for six months.

The information was given by Maxim Liksutov, deputy mayor of Moscow for transport and industry. He said the project is part of cooperation between Moscow and Russian regions, including the Far Eastern Federal District. As an example, he noted that since 2024 a modern "SberTroika" ticketing system has operated in Primorye, and more than a thousand vehicles are now connected to it.

What passengers will see inside

Each carriage has its own colour scheme and focuses on a separate theme: history, nature, tourism, industry, education or career opportunities. Passengers can learn about regional explorers such as Stepan Krasheninnikov and Semyon Dezhnev, as well as the local plants and animals, including the Amur tiger, grey whales and the Japanese crane.

The train also highlights travel and work opportunities. According to the source, its content covers subsidised air tickets, local festivals, achievements of regional industry and stories of people who live and develop these areas. A notable design feature is the images on the carriage floors, which create an immersive effect. Passengers can seem to be among ocean creatures, harnessed with Kamchatka sled dogs, or under the starry sky of the Vostochny cosmodrome.

Other themed trains

According to the same publication, on 6 October another themed train, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the Kutafin Moscow State Law University, also began running on the Moscow Metro.

The source does not list the stations served by the Far East Express beyond the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line, so passengers planning a trip should check current route information before travelling.
