According to Diário do Transporte, Line 9-Esmeralda, operated by ViaMobilidade, returned to normal service on Sunday, October 25, 2026. The restriction was caused by flooding in the Santo Amaro area, in the South zone of São Paulo.

What passengers experienced

The flooding led to longer waits between Santo Amaro and João Dias stations. Trains kept running, but with wider gaps between them. After the water level dropped and traffic was restored, the line resumed regular operation, according to the same outlet.

ViaMobilidade stated that, earlier on Sunday morning, excess water on one of the tracks, caused by the rain, forced the line to run temporarily on a single track between Santo Amaro and João Dias. The company later reported that the intervals between João Dias and Santo Amaro had been regularized as planned.

Support during the disruption

While the operational change was in effect, audio announcements were broadcast in stations to guide customers. Service and Safety Agents (AAS) were also posted at strategic points in the stations and inside the trains to assist passengers.

Timing and advice

The return to normal happened on the day of the second round of the elections, according to Diário do Transporte. Passengers are advised to follow operational notices throughout the day and to take rainy conditions into account when planning their trips.
