Metrô BH, the metro system of Belo Horizonte in Brazil, will run a special operation on Sunday (8) because of the Enem national high school exam, according to Metrô BH. The measure aims to help students travel to their test venues and to offer passengers more comfort.

Sunday (8): timetable changes

  • From 5:15 to 10:30, trains run every 15 minutes.
  • From 10:30 to 13:00, the interval drops to 10 minutes to add trips when candidates arrive at test sites.
  • From 13:00 to 19:00, trains run every 20 minutes.
  • After 19:00, the interval returns to 15 minutes.

Between 13:00 and 19:00, trains will run on a single track at Calafate, Carlos Prates and Lagoinha stations. Passengers are asked to check the direction of the train before boarding. On Line 2, Nova Suíça and Amazonas stations will have 15-minute intervals all day.

Saturday (7) and weekdays

On Saturday (7), according to Metrô BH, the interval will be 20 minutes from 10:00 to 19:00. Trains will again use a single track at Calafate, Carlos Prates and Lagoinha during this period. From Monday to Friday (9 to 13), intervals will be 24 minutes after 20:00, with single-track running at Calafate and Gameleira.

Reason for the changes

The operator explains that these adjustments take place alongside works to modernise the signalling system and install infrastructure, which are part of the revitalisation project for Line 1. Metrô BH says these interventions are needed to advance improvements across the system.

How to get updates

Operational information is published on the operator's Instagram account, @metrobhoficial, and on its website, metrobh.com.br. Station digital screens and public address announcements also carry updates, and staff will be on site to guide passengers.

Under normal conditions, stations operate from 5:15 to 23:00 every day. Metrô BH notes that train intervals may change while the system is being modernised.
